Cargolux was awarded the “Best Performing Cargo Airline” prize in 2017 during a ceremony on February 8th 2018 at Budapest Airport.
With this award, Budapest Airport recognizes Cargolux’s contribution to its record-breaking year. “We are honored and proud to receive this award,” says Tony McNichol, Regional Director Central Europe. “It is a great recognition of our efforts to offer the Hungarian air freight community the best possible service.” In 2017, Cargolux transported close to 11,000 tons of cargo from and to Budapest Airport, an increase of +14.5 percent compared to 2016. Europe’s leading all-cargo carrier is the largest provider in the belly and freighter cargo market at Budapest Airport.
The airport of the Hungarian capital welcomed more passengers than ever before in 2017 by passing the 13 million mark. For that reason, Budapest Airport (BUD) hosted an awards ceremony to thank its valued business partners who continue to play a significant role in its aviation and retail development. Recognizing those which stood out in various fields throughout the last 12 months, the Hungarian gateway took the opportunity to praise each and every one of its associates which had boosted the airport’s development throughout 2017. “The fantastic results we achieved last year were due to the overall support and involvement from our closely-held partners,” explained Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport, at the ceremony.
“This is a joint achievement for all at Budapest, and we thank everyone who has contributed to the airport’s outstanding figures, helping us remain one of Europe’s fastest-growing major airports,” Lammers added. Budapest Airport has become an important cargo hub in Central Eastern Europe. Almost 130.000 tons of air cargo was handled at BUD in 2017, an increase by 13.4 percent compared to the previous year. A new Cargo City at BUD is going to be operational in summer 2019. “Cargo and logistics are principally based on the relationship and the co-operation between the partners. We are proud to have an excellent long-time co-operation with our great partner, Cargolux, and we are happy to celebrate together the 15th year’s anniversary of their BUD operation,” René Droese said, Director Property and Cargo at Budapest Airport.
Cargolux is the world’s first GDP-certified airline, as well as the world’s first ‘Lean & Green’ carrier and operates from one of Europe’s most modern centers for temperature-controlled logistics in Europe at Luxembourg’s Findel Airport. Its expert staff is highly trained and motivated with a thorough knowledge and experience in their field, which benefits its customers’ specialized requirements.
